Knowing how much money you have to spend on your project is crucial. Your budget will affect what you can and cannot have in your final design. If you need to finance your build, you should visit your lending institution to apply for a construction mortgage and to find out how much money you will be able to borrow.
Designing your custom built cottage is one of the most important stages in the entire process. You should make a list of all of your "must-have" items and wants ahead of time. Usually during this stage you will go through several versions of your plans, revising and making adjustments to suit your tastes and your budget until you get a final version that you are happy with. It's better not to rush this process though; you don't want to build a cottage that you aren't completely satisfied with.

You may not realize how much paperwork is involved when building a cottage. Thankfully we are here to help you. We have the knowledge required and will be able to obtain all of the building permits and paperwork that you will need from the appropriate local officials.
This process also takes time and it can vary depending on how big your cottage is, the area in which you are building and how busy the local officials are. It is a good idea to use this time to make some choices that don't require city approvals for such as the types of materials that you want to use to finish your home like flooring, cabinets, tiles, paint, etc.
Once you have your lot ready, the designs completed, and all the building permits in place, we can begin building it. The time that this phase will take depends on the complexity of the architectural design and how detailed it is as well as how large your cottage is. A smaller, less complicated cottage will take less time to construct than a larger more detailed one.
We will try our best to stay within a timeline and make up any lost time whenever possible, however, there are still a number of unpredictable and unexpected events that may occur that will add to the total building time. These include but are not limited to:
Inclement weather: once the structure is full enclosed, this will play a lesser role
Delays in materials not being delivered: choosing materials that are in stock and not on back order can help with this issue, however if you are getting certain items custom-made such as cabinets, then delays can occur.
Changing your plans: If you decide that you need to make changes to the design plan this will also add on extra time, especially if it is later in the building stage.
